This book is quirky. I was hooked from the beginning. July writes in such a smart, complex and emotional way. This book felt like it took on a life of it’s own as I read. What connected me most to this story was how anxious and complex the main character and narrator, Cheryl Glickman, was. And while our lives are in no way parallel, it felt like someone finally created a character I could really relate to - especially in the beginning when we were in her head, listening to her constant worries over the seemingly smallest of things. One negative I will mention is the story was set up to have a much bigger ending, but it ended up being much more narrow and somewhat expected.
This novel is unforgettable - I am certain it will stick with me. It’s an unexpectedly hilarious and odd and interesting love story that I highly recommend to someone who is bored by the norm.
